RHETORIC, A
I completed this course in the spring of 2017. I thoroughly enjoyed learning the cannons of rhetoric and the underlying conventions that assist your engagement with your environment and the effects to your perception. The material was comprehensible and taught well by graduate professor, Julianna Edmonds.
WRITE, EDIT PRINT/ONLINE, A
I completed this course in the spring of 2017. Megan Keaton was the graduate professor and it was evident her knowledge on editing and writing for print and digital platforms was expansive. Along with three peers, I created a campaign for self-love and awareness named FSMe. It was aimed for college students to be reminded of their self worth and to encourage self-love with our hashtag "It's about U" on merchandise like key-chains and t-shirts.
HISTORY OF TEXT TECHNOLOGIES, B+
Dr. Graban, one of FSU's esteemed staff member in the English department, taught the History of Text Technolgies. She introduced the term "technogenesis", which was the central focus of the course. Hover over the 'FSU Undergrad Portfolio' tab and choose 'Creative Analysis Papers'.
ADVANCED WRITING EDITING, B
I completed this course in the fall of 2017 taught by graduate professor, Travis Maynard. We were assigned writing proses and expected to complete short stories, as well as edit our own and our peer's piece, as long as 700 words once a week. I learned how to edit skillfully and rearrange sentences and paragraphs of my story intentionally.
MASS COMMUNICATION, B+
I completed this course in the spring of 2018, taught by FSU's Communication and Information College professor, Dr. Clayton. I learned so much in this and my passion for the field of communication was enhanced. This course was similar to a history class because we learned events like when the first video game was invented and how to spot product placement in movies.
RHETORICAL THEORY & PRACTICE, A
I completed this course in the spring of 2018, taught by one of FSU's English Department's esteemed professors, Dr. Neal. I learned how to create a digital archive, create and edit film, learned the theories in practice within our texts and observed the conventions of writing evident in film. Dr. Neal utilized the first weeks of class to explore and challenge the definitions and connotations of fans and fandoms within our society. RADIO & TELEVISION 3001, A
I completed this course in the summer of 2018, taught by WCTV digital media employee and FSU's own, Nick Sellers. In the duration of the course, I learned on screen and off lenses aspects of media techniques effective for good communication. Learning color and line theories to effective sound cues and narration equipped me with skills to carry into my career.
PRINCIPLES OF ADVERTISING 3008, (+)
I completed this course in the fall of 2018, taught by the esteemed Professor Barry Solomon. I registered to take this course for a satisfactory or unsatisfactory grade (pass/fail) and earned a passing grade. Professor Solomon's passion and expertise in the principles of advertising were evident and engaging. He inspired me to understand the methods and techniques of varying and related media relations.
CONTEMPORARY HUMAN COMMUNICATION 3210, B+
I completed this course in the fall of 2018 and had the honor of Mark Ziegler as my professor. Mark preferred his students calling him by his first name, and so Mark's lectures were reliantly engaging and interesting. Mark had a way of connecting opposing truths and perspectives to reason toward a conclusion that made sense to the class. Mark has equipped with me invaluable knowledge that I will save as future resources for the workplace and for my life.
WHAT IS A TEXT?, B+
I completed this course in the fall of 2018, taught by one of FSU's English Department esteemed professors, Dr. Gants. I learned about the history of various texts (newspapers, books, printing machines, comic books, etc) and their influence on communication. For example, the New York Times ditched the letterpress after the introduction of computers since computers proved to work faster than hands.
MASS MEDIA LAW, (+)
I completed this course in the spring of 2019 taught by Teresa Coulter. I learned about several cases that were set as precedent cases regarding mass media law. I completed several writing exercises that enabled me to apply and consider mass media law. Recent cases, like the one involving Amazon's CEO Jeff Bezos, were highlighted as references in class to offer a deeper understanding.
SPECIAL TOPICS IN COMMUNICATIONS, A
I completed this course in the spring of 2019 taught by Avery Henry. The central focus of this course was exploring worldly topics and expanding further on said topic by presenting a media criticism argument/proposal.
